A first walk through Lisbon’s defining sights, from the coffeehouse tradition of Chiado and the iron Santa Justa lift down through the Baixa to the riverfront Praça do Comércio. From there you climb past Casa dos Bicos and the cathedral to the Santa Luzia viewpoint, Alfama’s lanes and São Jorge Castle on its hilltop.

    Praça Dom Pedro IV is the broad urban square Lisboners usually call Rossio, and the monument rising from its paved expanse honours Pedro IV, King of Portugal.
