Malatesta, Roma

Malatesta is a station on Rome Metro Line C, below Piazza Roberto Malatesta. The station takes its name from the piazza above it. Construction began in April two thousand seven and concluded in January two thousand fifteen.

It welcomed the public on the twenty-ninth of June two thousand fifteen, alongside the Mirti–Lodi stretch. The station has three access points: a pair by the bus terminus along the piazza’s north edge, plus another in the traffic island where Via Roberto Malatesta meets the square. Inside, an intermediate hall reaches an underground piazza by a travertine staircase.

This space was planned for shops and cultural events, giving the station a role beyond trains alone. A ticket machine and city-bus connections keep Malatesta closely tied to the daily movement of the neighborhood.
