Kościół Świętego Bonifacego, Wrocław

St Boniface Church is a red-brick Catholic parish church in Wrocław’s Nadodrze district, built in 1897 and 1898. Its Neo-Romanesque basilica form includes a paired tower block, while inside is a thirty-two-stop organ made in 1885. The neighbouring rectory gained provincial heritage listing in 1991.

St Boniface Church is the red-brick parish church before you, serving the Catholic parish of Saint Boniface in Nadodrze. It rose in 1897 and 1898 with money from Cardinal Georg Kopp, Bishop of Wrocław, and the Saint Boniface Association of Paderborn. Its Neo-Romanesque design revives the solid, round-arched character of medieval Romanesque churches.

The building is composed as a three-aisled basilica rather than a single open hall. Inside, the space is arranged in eight sections: entrance porches, five sections through the nave, and a smaller, lower sanctuary ending in a semicircular apse. Above the sanctuary stands the church’s paired tower block; the towers become eight-sided higher up and finish in pointed cone-shaped roofs.

The baptismal chapel occupies the south side, while the sacristy is on the north. The church also contains a thirty-two-stop organ, built by the Friebe firm in 1885 and later altered by Józef Cynar and Czesław Chrobak. Its playing and stop mechanisms use pneumatic action. Beside the church, the rectory entered the provincial heritage register in 1991.
