The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Consolation is a Roman Catholic parish church in Wrocław’s Dąbie district. Built in nineteen nineteen for the Redemptorists from timber reused from cathedral-tower scaffolding, this three-aisled timber-frame church has served as a parish church since nineteen fifty-one. It is a protected regional heritage monument.

This is the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Consolation, a Roman Catholic parish church in Wrocław’s Dąbie district. It began in nineteen nineteen as a building intended to serve only temporarily, designed by Josef Ebers for the Redemptorist order. Its most remarkable material came from the city’s cathedral: the builders reused timber from scaffolding taken down during repairs to the cathedral towers.

That practical beginning helps explain the church’s character. It is a timber-frame, three-aisled basilica, with a sacristy and entrance porch added onto the main structure. The long gabled roof is crowned where its slopes meet by a small bell turret, giving this modest wooden church a clear vertical accent.

An apparently provisional solution became a lasting parish landmark. The church has served as a parish church since nineteen fifty-one and belongs to the Wrocław North Two, Sępolno deanery of the Archdiocese of Wrocław. It is also protected as an immovable heritage monument of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. Its dedication invokes Mary as the comforter of those in distress—a fitting name for a church made from rescued timber and kept in use for more than a century.
