Walk north from the Royal Opera and Kungsträdgården to Hallwylska palatset, a lavish private home built with every modern comfort of its day. Cross Humlegården, once a royal garden, then head to Asplund's striking rotunda at the City Library, stopping at the Schefflerska palatset on Drottninggatan, long known as the Ghost Palace.
