Spichlerz Panna, Gdańsk
Spichlerz Panna is a protected immovable monument in Poland, part of Gdańsk’s surviving historic fabric. Its origins reach back to sixteen hundred. The name itself remains Spichlerz Panna, carrying a local character that needs no translation.
Gdańsk has a history extending beyond a thousand years, and its fortunes have long been tied to water. The city stands where the Motława meets the Vistula near the Baltic coast. It grew into a major maritime centre, and its commercial port is now the Baltic’s second-largest.
In thirteen sixty-one, Gdańsk entered the Hanseatic League, joining a network of northern trading cities. This protected place belongs to that larger story of merchants, river traffic, and sea routes that made Gdańsk thrive.
