Park imienia Ronalda Reagana, Gdańsk

Reagan Park is a broad coastal park stretching through Gdańsk’s northern districts, with lawns, paths, ponds and a skatepark rather than a single landmark. It was created between 2003 and 2006 on neglected land, and later expansion brought it to about 85 hectares. As you walk along its paths, look for the granite figures in the permanent open-air display called “Great Gdańsk Citizens.”

They were made during a 2008 sculpture workshop in Kashubia. Other works come from “Crossroads of Freedom,” a festival devoted to spatial forms. The park honours Ronald Reagan, and a monument here joins his figure with Pope John Paul II; Szczepan Baum created it. The setting is also a place for everyday use: family runs, children’s activities, cycling and skating all belong to its living character.
