Park Gradac, Dubrovnik

Park Gradac is Dubrovnik’s largest and best-known park, with pine woodland, wooden benches, and a small pond at the entrance. It opened to the public on 23 July 1898 and covers 1.7 hectares. Notice the pond as you enter: the Amerling Fountain once stood here.

From the entrance area, you can see Fort Lovrijenac, Pile, and the historic core; elsewhere, views extend toward Danče and the open sea. This was once more than a place for a stroll. From 1929 to 1941, an aviary and cages for small mammals occupied the grounds, and 15,000 bird enthusiasts visited during its opening 15 years.

Performances connected with the Dubrovnik Summer Festival have also taken place here, and some Game of Thrones scenes were filmed in the park. Today, it remains a place for walking and relaxation.
