Parc Gulliver, Valencia
Parc Gulliver is an amusement park in Valencia’s Turia Garden, built around a monumental figure rather than ordinary play equipment. The sculpture represents Gulliver just after reaching Lilliput, tied down by its inhabitants, and measures 70 metres. Ramps, slides and stairs let visitors explore the figure, whose scale makes them seem like Lilliputians crossing the body of Swift’s character.
The pathways turn the giant form into a landscape for play. The project was commissioned in 1986 from architect Rafael Rivera and fallero artist Manolo Martín, working from a design by Sento Llobell. After renovation, the park reopened on the 6th of November 2022. Its setting is the Turia Garden, between the Ángel Custodio and Kingdom of Valencia bridges, so the surrounding garden frames this extraordinary encounter with a character made immense.
