Nowohuckie Centrum Kultury, Kraków
Before you is Nowohuckie Centrum Kultury, a municipal cultural institution in Nowa Huta near Plac Centralny. Construction began during the early nineteen seventies on land intended for a theatre, and the building opened in nineteen eighty-three under the architectural direction of Zbigniew Pawelski. The building is modernist, using the visual language of its own era rather than borrowing an older historical manner.
Within this substantial complex, the theatre auditorium holds an audience of six hundred. Dance, ballet, and art groups work here alongside resident theatre companies. The centre also contains galleries, including Kraków’s permanent Zdzisław Beksiński gallery, opened in October twenty sixteen with a deposit collection of two hundred and fifty works. More than half a million people visit the centre over a year, making it a busy cultural home for Nowa Huta.
