Muzeum Politechniki Krakowskiej, Kraków

The Muzeum Politechniki Krakowskiej occupies a former military detention building on the university’s campus. That past gives this small academic museum an unexpected setting: a place once used for confinement now preserves the life of an institution devoted to learning and invention. The museum was created on the fourth of June two thousand four and opened to visitors on the thirtieth of May two thousand five.

Its collections connect directly with the Kraków University of Technology and with its patron, Tadeusz Kościuszko. As you take in the building around the entrance, the contrast is the key to this stop: military discipline in the fabric of the site, and technical education, science, and engineering history in the museum’s purpose.
