St Andrew the Apostle’s Church is the Catholic parish church of Stabłowice on Boguszowska Street. Built for a parish established in 1985, it replaced an earlier church whose history reached back to the fourteenth century. Its red brick exterior, copper roof, bell-tower cross, and vast sanctuary relief make it distinctive.

This is St Andrew the Apostle’s Church, the Catholic parish church on Boguszowska Street in Stabłowice. Its present building carries a much longer local memory: a church dedicated to St Andrew stood here from the middle of the fourteenth century. That earlier church changed hands in 1530, when Protestants took it over, and returned to Catholic use in 1654.

It was destroyed in 1586 but rebuilt that same year as a timber-framed structure. A tower and porch followed in 1727. Although it survived the fighting of February 1945, it was destroyed only months later.

The church before you belongs to the parish created in 1985. Architects W. Kamocki and D.

Kuśmierczak designed a combined church and teaching complex, but official resistance meant that the parish first built the rectory and teaching rooms. The worship space was added in 1988, and services moved into the completed church in 1994. Cardinal Francis Arinze consecrated it on the twenty-sixth of May 1997.

Notice the red facing brick, copper roof, and the metal cross atop the bell tower. Inside, the sanctuary is dominated by an enormous relief of the Cross of Saint Francis, over eight metres high.
