The Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul is a historic Neo-Renaissance rotunda in Kraków’s Dębniki district, completed in 1883 to a design by Józef Pokutyński. Dębniki’s first church, it was funded by three local families and renewed in the nineteen nineties, when its stained-glass window was added.

This is the Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul, a historic chapel in Kraków’s Dębniki district. Its compact circular form makes it unusual: the building was completed in 1883 as a rotunda, designed by Józef Pokutyński. It is Neo-Renaissance, meaning it draws on the visual language of the Renaissance revived in the nineteenth century.

That simple round plan gives this small sacred building a self-contained presence. The chapel matters especially to Dębniki because it was the first church built in this neighbourhood. Three patrons made it possible: the Kirchmayer family, the Łoś counts, and the Lasocki family.

The dedication joins two apostles, Peter and Paul of Tarsus, in the chapel’s name. A thorough renewal followed in the nineteen nineties under architect Konstancja Cęckiewicz. She also designed and funded the stained-glass image of the two patron saints; Anna and Ireneusz Zarzycki’s Kraków studio made it.

On the twelfth of November 1993, the chapel was consecrated again. It is protected as an immovable heritage monument of the voivodeship.
