Kamienica Zacherlowska, Kraków

Kamienica Zacherlowska is the historic townhouse at Rynek Główny forty-two, on the corner with Świętego Jana Street. Its corner façade gathers a remarkable chain of lives. In eighteen oh eight, Kajetan Wytyszkiewicz acquired the house.

Later, in eighteen seventy-eight, the Pareński family reshaped it, creating an entrance from Świętego Jana Street and adding a third floor. Photographer Ignacy Krieger worked from a studio here. Collector Feliks Jasieński made his home on the second floor and kept his collections there.

Notice the entrance on Świętego Jana Street: it belongs to that nineteenth-century remodelling. The building entered the heritage register on the eighth of August nineteen sixty-five. In twenty twenty-one, it housed a hotel.
