Jardín Americano de la Expo 92, Seville
The Jardín Americano de la Expo 92 is a garden created for Seville’s 1992 Universal Exposition. It reopened in 2010 after 17 years of abandonment. Its defining feature is an exclusive collection of American plant species, arranged across nearly 3 hectares of irregular beds and winding paths.
Notice the timber slats of the Umbráculo: their layout provides shade for tropical and subtropical plants, within a structure covering 1700 square metres. The garden also includes a water garden set in a lake linked to the river by cascades, along with areas devoted to palms, cacti and succulent plants. A planted wall and pergolas complete the range of spaces. The result is a garden whose paths lead you through distinct environments, from filtered shade to waterside planting.
