Heineken Experience, Amsterdam

At the Heineken Experience, this former brewery now serves as a visitor centre devoted to Heineken, the Dutch pilsner distributed internationally. The industrial building was constructed in 1867 as Heineken’s first brewery and continued brewing until 1988, when a modern, larger facility opened outside the city. Public access began in 1991, initially under another name; the attraction adopted “Heineken Experience” in 2001.

Inside, the visit brings together brewing history, product exploration, sampling and interactive exhibits using multimedia technology. The tour also follows the development of the brewing process and the beer brand. This historic industrial site is an Anchor Point on the European Route of Industrial Heritage, connecting it with a wider network of industrial sites across Europe.
