Chiesa di Santa Maria Addolorata is a Catholic church where Viale della Serenissima meets Viale della Venezia Giulia in Collatino. The stairway leads you toward three entrance portals, with a cross set above the facade. Its exterior combines small tuff blocks with travertine, beneath a roof of wood and copper.

Architect Tommaso Sbardella designed the building, completed during the years from nineteen ninety-eight to two thousand one; Cardinal Camillo Ruini consecrated it in March two thousand one. The parish was founded in January nineteen fifty-eight by Cardinal Vicar Clemente Micara. It began under the Servants of the Poor Missionaries and has belonged to Rome’s diocesan clergy since nineteen eighty-seven.

Pope Francis made this church the seat of a cardinal’s title in February two thousand fifteen. The adjoining bell tower holds five bells, including one dedicated to victims of road accidents.
