Callejón del Agua, Seville

Callejón del Agua is a public street in Seville’s Santa Cruz quarter, alongside the Alcázar. Its route connects Plaza de Alfaro with Calle Vida. Water once ran nearby through the Caños de Carmona, giving this passage a practical link to Seville’s historic water supply.

That connection is the most distinctive detail here: the street’s identity is tied not only to its setting beside the Alcázar, but also to the watercourse that flowed close by. Félix González de León included the street in his 1839 account of Seville’s street names. As you follow the lane, you are moving through a place whose character comes from this meeting of route, landmark and infrastructure, with its story preserved in a written description from the nineteenth century.
