A longer walk into residential Castello, from San Zaccaria to the walled shipyards of the Arsenal that powered the Republic’s navy. Stroll broad Via Garibaldi, visit San Pietro di Castello, Venice’s former cathedral, then follow the Napoleonic gardens of the Biennale to the pine grove of Sant’Elena with its lagoon views.
