Wielka Gwiazda, Sopot

Wielka Gwiazda is a meeting point of forest roads within the Tricity Landscape Park. The junction lies at about 125 metres above sea level, among varied beech and pine woodland, including trees around two hundred years old. Beside the crossing stands the protected natural monument called the Two Brothers: a beech and a pine fused as they grew.

A substantial forest restaurant operated here from 1895 until March 1945; soldiers of the Red Army set it alight, and fragments of its foundations are all that remain. Its popularity once brought a seasonal horse tram close to the restaurant, but the service ended in 1906 because it continually lost money. Today, a long-distance hiking route and Sopot trails named for squirrels and wild boar pass through the junction, with a shelter and table for resting.
