Weisses Bräuhaus im Tal, Munich
The Weisses Bräuhaus im Tal is a five-storey corner building with a restaurant, completed in 1903. Heilmann & Littmann designed it. Look at the façade along Tal: a shallow projecting bay rises across three floors, and above it a broad curved gable carries a stucco relief of Saint Florian.
The ground level has large arched restaurant windows and an open entrance porch set into the corner. The building replaced an older brewing site: in 1874, Georg Schneider opened Munich’s first private wheat-beer brewery here, while the restaurant occupied the building facing Tal. The present building was erected in 1902/03, and after wartime bomb damage it was rebuilt in partly simplified form.
A later renovation restored the original gables. Inside, the entrance leads to a wood-panelled hall measuring about 9 × 9 metres, with its ceiling supported by a column.
