Villa Strozzi al Boschetto, Florence

Villa Strozzi al Boschetto is a villa in Florence, set within a substantial park. Its architectural style is Mannerism, visible in the taste for playful water features and decorative elements introduced when the grounds were developed in the sixteenth century. The property has an entrance portal on Via Pisana at number 77, another on Via di Soffiano, and a small pedestrian access at Monte Oliveto in Bellosguardo.

During the nineteenth century, Prince Ferdinando Strozzi commissioned Giuseppe Poggi to restore the villa and redesign its park. The work brought a carriage avenue rising from Via di Soffiano, along with open lawns and walking paths shaped across gentle slopes. Look toward the Via Pisana side for the stone staircase, paved with river pebbles, and notice the great citrus house separating the older and newer garden areas. Today the villa and park form a public park known as Il Boschetto.
