Pomnik Armii Krajowej, Sopot

Before you is Sopot’s Home Army Monument, a memorial in the park named after the medic Inka. It is dedicated to Home Army soldiers who fell or were murdered. The sculpture comes from Tadeusz Markiewicz, while Leon Czerwiński created the plinth beneath it.

The monument was erected in nineteen ninety-eight on Armii Krajowej Avenue, opposite the University of Gdańsk Faculty of Management, between 1 Maja and Władysława Sikorskiego streets. Separate makers shaped the sculpture and its support, yet they form a single act of remembrance here. The park also contains a smaller monument to Danuta Siedzikówna, known as Inka.

Her memorial gives the park’s name a human focus, while this monument holds the wider loss of the Home Army. Sopot is a Baltic resort city within the urban area shared with Gdańsk and Gdynia. Amid the movement of a resort city, this work preserves room for grief, service, and remembrance.
