Park Południowy, Sopot
Park Południowy is a historic spa park whose fountains bring mineral water into the open. The spring rises naturally from about 800 metres below ground, carrying bromide and iodide salts at a little over 4 per cent, with magnesium and potassium. As you walk through the park, look for the tower of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and the wooden South Baths beside it, built in 1907.
Family changing rooms were introduced there for the first time in Europe. The park also displays Ewa Beyer-Formela’s white marble sculpture “Two Springs,” made in 1978. Its joined shapes suggest rivers winding together. This green space began in the 1820s as part of Jean Georg Haffner’s seaside spa, giving bathers somewhere to stroll among the treatments.
