Nobelprismuseet, Stockholm
Inside the former Stock Exchange Building at Stortorget, you are looking at the Nobel Prize Museum, a museum about Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Prize. Its permanent display combines objects donated by Nobel laureates with stories about their lives. The museum opened in 2001, marking the centenary of the Nobel Prize, and adopted its current name in 2019.
Its subject reaches across science, literature, peace work, and economics, with exhibitions, films, and objects connected to Alfred Nobel and the prize. The museum also includes a shop and a restaurant. At Bistro Nobel, the chairs carry signatures from Nobel laureates beneath their seats, turning an ordinary piece of furniture into part of the collection. The museum’s exhibitions have featured figures including Marie Curie, Nelson Mandela, and Winston Churchill, while its displays also explore the discoveries and achievements behind the prizes.
