Monti Tiburtini, Roma

Monti Tiburtini is a station on Rome Metro Line B. It lies at the meeting point of Via dei Monti Tiburtini and Via Filippo Meda. During the early nineteen eighties, its construction required the removal of tennis courts and a football field from a nearby sports centre.

The station opened on the eighth of December, nineteen ninety, when the Termini to Rebibbia stretch of Line B began carrying passengers. Sandro Pertini Hospital is nearby, while bus stops link the station with routes sixty-one, four hundred forty-nine, five hundred forty-two, five hundred forty-four, five hundred forty-eight, and n two. This is an everyday transport hub with an unexpectedly athletic past: rail access here took the place of courts and a pitch, then became part of the district’s routine.
