Kościół Zielonoświątkowy „Radość Życia”, Gdańsk

Kościół Zielonoświątkowy „Radość Życia” names the Pentecostal congregation connected with this stop. Today, the congregation gathers in Hala „Radość,” a former frame-bending workshop within the Imperial Shipyard. Earlier, its long-term home was a Mennonite ensemble of chapel and parsonage, built in eighteen eighteen and eighteen nineteen.

After wartime devastation, Polish authorities passed the damaged complex to the church, and its inaugural service there took place on the twenty-ninth of June nineteen fifty-eight. The old chapel makes biblical symbolism part of its construction: four larch columns carry the interior, twelve piers surround the exterior, and a seven-by-seven-metre plan recalls the evangelists, apostles, and blessings. Notice the compact, disciplined form behind that numerical scheme.

The building is protected as a provincial immovable monument, and it is classified as neoclassical, a manner that revives the balanced restraint of classical antiquity. The congregation now has about four hundred worshippers, making it among Poland’s larger Pentecostal communities.
