Here beside Teatralny Square is the Roman Catholic Church of Saint Brother Albert and Saint Andrew the Apostle. An earlier Jesuit church occupied this site in the seventeenth century, and a church dedicated to Saint Andrew followed during the eighteenth century. During the Warsaw Uprising, this church served as an insurgent hospital.

After wartime damage, worship continued until the authorities ordered demolition in nineteen fifty-three. The present church returned in nineteen ninety-nine as part of the rebuilt frontage of Teatralny Square, and Pope John Paul the Second blessed it that June. Notice the transparent glass doors, an unexpectedly open threshold for a church with such a turbulent history. Within, the principal altar holds a sixteenth-century painting by Sebastiano del Piombo, alongside works deposited from the Royal Castle and the National Museum.
