At Krzywe Koło twelve slash fourteen a, the Instytut Słowacki brings Slovak culture into Warsaw. It began in October nineteen ninety-three, when Warsaw’s Czechoslovak cultural and information centre became separate Czech and Slovak institutions. Since nineteen ninety-five, the institute has made its home in the Czamerowska townhouse near the Old Town Market Square.

Its programme gives you a compact route into Slovakia’s cultural life: books by Slovak writers, Polish translations, visual art, music, theatre, film, and language classes all have a place here. The institute also works beyond the arts, introducing Slovak towns, regions, organisations, and businesses, while creating contacts around tourism, spa destinations, civic groups, and cross-border initiatives. Meetings linked with the Visegrád Group bring another layer of Central European cooperation into this small Old Town address.

The institute is currently directed by Milan Novotný, whose earlier term also preceded his return to the role. This townhouse therefore serves as a living cultural bridge between Poland and Slovakia, rather than merely an office with an international name.
