Fælledparken, Copenhagen

Fælledparken is a public park formed from Copenhagen’s former commons. Landscape architect Edvard Glæsel created it with the municipality from 1906 to 1914. Its broad open ground now accommodates walking, running, sunbathing, playgrounds, and football on marked grass courts.

Along the southern edge, Filosofgangen follows a path beside the Niels Bohr Institute. Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg, Erwin Schrödinger, and other physicists walked here while discussing space and quantum physics, making these conversations part of the park’s story. The skatepark adds a striking modern layer: it opened in 2011 after rebuilding an older facility, and its 4,500 m2 layout includes bowls, verts, ramps, and street-skating areas. It welcomes beginners, advanced riders, professionals, BMX riders, and rollerskaters, while freestyle scooting has its own nearby park.
