Szczęśliwy Pies, or the Happy Dog Monument, is a seated Golden Retriever sculpture in Pole Mokotowskie. Created by Bogna Czechowska and unveiled during a Warsaw dog parade, it was modeled on Lokat, a therapy dog. The memorial celebrates the care and affection that make a dog happy.

Szczęśliwy Pies, the Happy Dog Monument, is a statue in Pole Mokotowskie portraying a seated Golden Retriever. The sculpture takes its model from Lokat, a dog involved in canine-assisted therapy, and turns an individual animal into a warm public companion. Bogna Czechowska created the work, which was unveiled on the second of October two thousand four during a Warsaw dog parade arranged by the pet magazine Cztery Łapy for World Animal Day.

Its purpose is unusually tender: this is an image of a dog that is cherished, cared for, and loved. That idea gives the memorial its character. Notice the settled pose and the direct, sociable presence of the figure.

It does not demand ceremony or heroic admiration; instead, it makes room for the ordinary bond between people and animals. Lokat belonged to the Friend Foundation, bringing a connection with therapeutic work into this quiet park monument. The choice of breed also fits the message: a Golden Retriever is known for gentleness, eagerness to learn, and a strong wish to please its human companion.

Here, happiness is not grand or abstract. It is care made visible in the form of a dog waiting patiently in the grass.
