This Rococo statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on Senatorska Street near Bank Square. Made by Giovanni Liverotti in seventeen thirty-three for Józef Wandalin Mniszech and Konstancja, it is the surviving remnant of the Mniszech Palace garden, with reliefs illustrating virtues and episodes from the saint’s life.

Before you is a Rococo statue of Saint John of Nepomuk at Senatorska Street forty, close to Bank Square. Giovanni Liverotti made it in seventeen thirty-three for Józef Wandalin Mniszech and his wife, Konstancja. Notice the saint poised above the square column: its relief panels recount episodes from his life and set out courage, moderation, justice, and prudence.

The lower parts also carry the Mniszech family arms, those of Konstancja’s family, and an intertwined monogram. This monument is a rare fragment of a vanished palace setting. Archaeological research established that it still occupies its original site beside the Mniszech Palace, set farther back from the street, and it is the sole surviving piece of the palace garden.

Conservation work in two thousand four brought the statue, pedestal, and fence sections into a workshop; the foundations, steps, and stone fence posts were treated here. Conservators also recovered a commemorative lead tablet beneath the monument, restored it, and returned it to its place. The figure has been protected as a heritage monument since nineteen sixty-five.
