Politechnika is an M one metro station beside Warsaw University of Technology’s principal campus, and it takes its name from the university. Opened on the seventh of April nineteen ninety-five, it was initially the northern end of Warsaw’s new underground route before the line continued to Centrum.

This station began carrying passengers on the seventh of April nineteen ninety-five, opening with the inaugural M one section between Kabaty and Politechnika. Until the twenty-sixth of May nineteen ninety-eight, when the route reached Centrum, Politechnika was its northern terminus. Its construction captures the long, difficult birth of Warsaw’s metro.

In nineteen eighty-five, tunnel shields began driving toward the station; this was the earliest stretch of the whole line built with that technique. Funding shortfalls repeatedly pushed the project beyond its intended completion. The railway and station were ready by the end of nineteen ninety-four, but altered regulations prolonged the formal approvals into the following year. So this unassuming station is tied directly to the moment Warsaw’s underground railway finally became real.
