Pole Mokotowskie, Warszawa

Pole Mokotowskie is a Warsaw metro station near the park of the same name and the Warsaw School of Economics. Opened in nineteen ninety-five, it belongs to the original stretch of the network. Its column-free vaulted interior has an island platform and recently added lifts.

Pole Mokotowskie serves Warsaw’s M1 metro line where Aleja Niepodległości meets Rakowiecka Street. The station takes its name from the nearby Pole Mokotowskie park, and the Warsaw School of Economics is close by. Its name was formally chosen in December nineteen eighty-three; construction followed in nineteen eighty-six.

The station opened on the seventh of April nineteen ninety-five, as part of the original metro section linking Kabaty with Politechnika. Below ground, the interior is arranged as a single-level vaulted space without columns, with an island platform ten metres wide and one hundred and twenty metres long. The restrained grey scheme is broken by red details.

Recent changes make the station easier to use: three lifts entered service in January twenty twenty-four, including a direct connection between the platform and the northern mezzanine. This is a compact piece of Warsaw’s modern transport history, made for the daily rhythm of students, commuters, and park visitors.
