Muzeum Odbudowy Starówki is a Museum of Warsaw branch in a revitalised Old Town cellar. Its permanent exhibition examines the destruction and rebuilding of Warsaw’s Old Town, while lectures and gatherings explore the city’s history and architecture. It forms part of the Old Town Cultural Cellars Trail.

Muzeum Odbudowy Starówki is a branch of the Museum of Warsaw at Brzozowa eleven/thirteen, devoted to the rebuilding of the Old Town. Its rooms occupy a revitalised Old Town cellar. The permanent display traces the district’s destruction and reconstruction, bringing the making of today’s streetscape into view.

Warsaw endured immense wartime devastation during the Second World War; once the fighting ended, German forces deliberately burned and tore down much of the city. Postwar reconstruction shaped the urban layout that Warsaw has today, and the renewed Old Town entered UNESCO’s World Heritage List in nineteen eighty. This institution opened on the twenty-fourth of January twenty thirteen.

It also forms part of the Old Town Cultural Cellars Trail, with lectures and gatherings exploring Warsaw’s history and architecture. Notice the enclosed character of the cellar: the setting makes rebuilding feel less like an abstract achievement and more like something woven into the Old Town itself.
