Most Polanowicki, Wrocław

Most Polanowicki marks a particularly literal edge of Wrocław: the Widawa follows the city boundary here. The bridge carries Henryka Michała Kamieńskiego Street across the river from Polanowice, at the street’s northern end. On the far bank, the route becomes Mostowa Street in Krzyżanowice, a village in the Wisznia Mała municipality.

This modest crossing therefore joins the city directly to a rural settlement beyond its boundary. The bridge now in use was built in 1960. It has one span and measures 29.88 metres from end to end, with an overall width of 8.51 metres.

Vehicles use a 6.15-metre carriageway, while each side has a 1.23-metre pavement. It is a compact, practical piece of infrastructure rather than a ceremonial river crossing. While standing safely on the pavement, you can appreciate how plainly its engineering is arranged: eight I-section girders carry the load, and the traffic surface is bituminous.

The bridge is rated for vehicles weighing up to 30 tonnes. Its significance lies in that simple transition: a Wrocław street crosses the Widawa, and immediately continues into Krzyżanowice.
